Mormons change the temple ritual

http://ericbarger.com/articles/templechanges.htm

by Ed Decker

"Tax time" brought more than the usual amount of stress to tax devout Temple Mormons in 1990. It was about the middle of April that reports began filtering out of the LDS community that the highly sacred (and secretive) temple endowment ceremonies were changed substantially without any evident explanation.

The LDS church, officially silent on the changes at first, has just issued an official statement confirming that the changes had been made. It is important to remember that these rituals, performed word perfect, which are secret to all but the elite few Mormons worthy enough to enter the temple, are believed to be essential to the Mormon attaining godhood.

Do They Really Believe That?

http://ericbarger.com/articles/do_they_really_believe_that.htm

by Ed Decker

We are often asked, "Do the Mormons really believe those things, or have you dug up old material from some obscure past to make your points?" The question might be, "Aren't you flogging a dead horse The average Mormon family wouldn't know anything about that stuff! Why don't you make reference to something that someone below the rank of an apostle would have access to?"

It is our position that the very basic doctrines of Mormonism clearly separate it from Christian orthodoxy. No matter how many times the LDS church uses the name of Christ, they are, without a shadow of a doubt, completely outside Christianity.

Out of Mormonism: Dianne Pomom

http://ericbarger.com/journey.out.htm

MY JOURNEY

By Dianne Pomom

Sometime in 1987-88, I became seriously disillusioned with Mormonism, the faith I’d adhered to for almost ten years. Suddenly, the temple ordinances, which I at one time had felt privileged to attend, seemed strange and alien to me. Numerous inconsistencies began to spring up in the teachings of Mormonism in Sunday School, Relief Society and in the Sacrament Meeting that greatly concerned me. I began to question the validity of “latter day prophets,” as I noted several errors and contradictions in their teachings. Certain conflicting verses, specifically in the Book of Mormon, started making me question its validity as the “most accurate book on the face of the earth.”

Out Of Mormonism: Ed Decker

http://ericbarger.com/articles/deckertestimony.htm

Ed Decker's Story

Being a Mormon was really something special! There was a spirit of having arrived in the very center of eternity that came with membership. The image was one of wholesomeness, industry and happiness. There was a built-in self-esteem that came with the name "Mormon", a proud kind of humility, an urgency to excel.

So many members are converts. They seem to be the ones with that special zeal for the Gospel. They had lived that life of partial truth in the darkness of some other church. They are the ones who have been reached by the great missionary vision of the L.D.S. Church. They represent the "fruit" of the truth that Mormonism is the "only true church".

Why I Love Mormons, but not Mormonism

Why I Love Mormons, but not Mormonism

by James R. Spencer

First of all, I want to say that I really do love Latter-day Saints. I was a Mormon elder for ten years. My wife and I were married in the Mormon temple in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1966. Our first daughter was "born under the covenant." I served in virtually every auxiliary in the Church.

When I was born again in 1974, my wife, Margaretta, sought a divorce. But God stopped her. Two years later she, herself, was born again. (I have told that story in my book, Beyond Mormonism: An Elder's Story (Chosen Books, 1984). I have now been in full-time Christian ministry for fifteen years. I have written seven books on Mormonism and other aspects of the cults, the occult, and secularism.

It's a Sad Fact but Mormonism IS a Cult

It's a Sad Fact but Mormonism IS a Cult

Eric's Note: In August 2005 a reader of our newsletter wrote concerning my position on the Mormon Church. Here is the email (unedited) and my response:

Saddened by anti-Mormon email...

I am writting to infom you of how saddend i was to read an email you have posted on to the internet. (Eric's note: read the email here.) It is relating to the girl who is becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am not saddend by the girls decision, in fact i am happy to here she is chosing for her self to lead the life she wants to lead, in stead i was saddend by your remarks and the remarks of her Uncle. While you may not share the veiws of the girl, and her boyfriend, and for that matter a large amount of others, i do not feel that this gives you the right to talk like that about the church. If she were converting to Islam, Catholisism or any other denomination would you have been quite so outraged?

Is the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ

Or is it a Testament of Another Jesus Christ?

Ed Decker, President, Saints Alive

Let's just test it by one simple test. What happened when Jesus went to Calvary in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon? The Testament should be the same!

Matthew 27:50-54: Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

They Teach a Different Jesus

Why Mormonism is Wrong...if for no other reason!

By Eric Barger

We receive many questions, requests for prayer and help, etc. This was a question and my response we received in December, 2000.

In a message dated 12/18/2000 4:09:24 PM Central Standard Time, ****@AOL.com writes:

< I was just looking at books at Barnes and Noble's website, and i stumbled across your review of The God Makers. Speaking as an LDS memeber (sic), i found it quite offencive (sic) that you would accuse Mormons of having "demonic roots and practices", boasting that it's the "hard truth". I'm far from saying that you shouldn't have your own opinion, I would just ask that you not display offencive (sic) facts that are based on unresearched opinions on the web. Thanks for taking the time to read this. > -- Lauren
